DNA SIG Meeting (Information)

Date & Time
10 September 2022 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Timezone
(UTC+10:00) Australia/Sydney

The DNA SIG meeting is a hybrid meeting for members with an interest in DNA for their genealogy research. Members should register to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.

The topic for this meeting is:

Finding Fathers

Dr Cathy Day will give a presentation on using DNA in the 21st century to identify fathers in the past, both recent and more remote. Cathy will outline the process, then step through several real-life examples. This talk will be of interest to anyone who has an ancestor born out of wedlock, in which the father was not named or identified. It will also be useful in confirming paternity – for example, is the man who married your ancestor with a babe in arms the biological father of that babe?

Members are invited to discuss their own experiences at ‘finding fathers’ and there will be ample time for discussion and questions.

If you are interested in this event you might also be interested in the many other benefits of membership. See Membership Benefits for member benefits, or go straight to Join or Renew to join.
