Translation Services
What we can translate/transcribe
Our volunteers can translate for the following languages:
English handwriting c. 1600, Estonian, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Welsh and Yiddish.
All translation services are provided subject to the availability of a translator. Please note, our translators are all volunteers, if you have a very complex document the translator may suggest you seek a professional translation service.
Fees for translation
There is a non-refundable fee of $10 for assessment of the material to be translated applying to both members and non-members.
The fees for the translation is as follows for FHACT members:
- The translation rate is charged at an hourly rate of $40.00 with the first hour free.

Accessing the translation service
You will need to attach a good quality scan of the document you want assessed to your translation request and pay the assessment fee before any translation is started.
Step 1. Request Translation Assessment

Step 3. We will contact you with a quote and invoice for the translation or let you know if we can't help you.
Step 4. Pay Translation Deposit
Step 6. We will contact you when the translation is complete with an invoice for the outstanding fee.
Step 7. Pay Translation Balance
Step 8. We will email the translation to you.
