Every Family has a Story – Stories from the 2021 E.M. Fletcher Writing Competition
Publication expected December 2022, with posted orders mailed out after this.
This second volume of Every Family has a Story includes stories from the 2021 E.M. Fletcher writing competition. And what a bumper year it was, with 124 entries received, 109 of which are included in this book. The year is remembered as a challenging time for Australians with many communities in lockdown and socially isolated due to a world-wide health pandemic. But the passion for family history storytelling is alive, and many family historians used the periods of lockdown to respond to the challenge of transforming their research into engaging stories.
2021 competition judge Dr Erica Cervini said, ‘This is a fascinating collection of family stories that have enduring meaning because they represent moments in time that tell the wider public about family connection to local communities and social history, and how an individual’s identity can be formed through exploring family history.’
If you’ve thought about writing your family story, Every Family has a Story could be the place to start for inspiration and motivation.
