Special Guest Speaker: Dr Malcolm Beazley AM, Director and Founder of the Australian National Museum of Education.

Family History ACT invites members and guests to its upcoming June Monthly Meeting.

This month’s meeting will feature Dr Malcolm Beazley AM, Director and Founder of the Australian National Museum of Education. (ANME).  Malcolm will speak about Australia’s rich and varied educational heritage and how the ANME has attempted to capture this rich tapestry with its collection.

The ANME keeps an on-site repository at the University of Canberra. It also comprises a national network of school museums, consolidating archival material held in school museums throughout Australia. It is one of Australia’s leading repositories of historical educational documents. The collections include textbooks, scholarly journals, teaching records, registers and materials, award certificates, biographies, school histories, and memorabilia.

Join us for an evening of discovery as we find out more about the Australian National Museum of Education, the history of education in Australia and the museum’s unique collection.

Attendees joining in person are warmly invited to stay after the meeting for supper and a chat—an opportunity to connect with fellow members and continue the conversation.

Canberra born, Dr Malcolm Beazley AM, has been a teacher, academic, administrator, writer and editor for over fifty years. He has taught at all levels of education and has held teaching and administrative positions in NSW and ACT schools. He has been an educational consultant and adviser to both State and Federal governments, for which he developed several innovative programs. His career has been marked by a Fulbright Scholarship in 1982, when he researched programs in the USA, which focused on the development of language abilities in children.
