Monthly Meeting & NFHM Opening
10th July 2023
By Engagement Committee
August is Family History Month!
This year the theme for activities is - Secrets and Lies: using Artificial Intelligence responsibly and handling sensitive subjects in your family history research.
Join us on Tuesday 1 August 2023 when the usual Family History ACT (FHACT) Monthly Members Meeting will be combined with the Opening Ceremony for National Family History Month (NFHM).
The meeting will commence promptly at 5pm at the FHACT Library in Cook and will include a live stream of the Opening Ceremony hosted by Rosemary McKenzie, President of Family History ACT and President of the Australasian Federation of Family History Societies.
The guest speaker for the Opening Ceremony will be Professor Hamish Maxwell-Stewart who is well-known to many family historians as a leader in the use of technology in family history. His address will be followed by a Panel Discussion addressing some of the ways in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used in family history.
Immediately following the Opening Ceremony join members of FHACT for a light supper of piping hot homemade soups with breads rolls and followed by tea/coffee and some sweet treats. And no doubt, plenty of discussion about the pros and cons of AI.
This is a free, in-person only, event. You can reserve your place here.
Address: FHACT Library, 41 Templeton Street, Cook ACT 2614
