The 2023 E.M. Fletcher Writing Competition closes on Saturday 15th July. Enter your story now.

There is still time to write and submit your entry for the Family History ACT 2023 E.M. Fletcher short story writing competition.

The competition is judged to select the best short story of 1,500 – 2,000 words on a family history or genealogy theme. We would also like each entrant to include a short (25 words or less) inspiration statement at the end of their story. What was important to you in telling your story and how you chose to write it? Knowing what inspired you will give our judges an understanding of the context from which your story was written.

The easiest way to enter the competition is online via the FHACT website. It’s your one stop shop for all the information about the competition including the terms and conditions and a handy checklist about commonly overlooked requirements.

THE COMPETITION CLOSES ON 15 JULY 2023.  Start writing now and be in with a chance to win a $1,000 1st prize sponsored by Family History ACT, a $500 runner up prize sponsored by the University of Tasmania and a special FHACT member only prize of a $100 society voucher.

Every family has a story - write yours now! All enquiries to writingcompetition@familyhistoryact.org.au
