These rich connections include those through employment in the East India Company and its Army, and British Army service. Life events for these people happened in India and connected regions. Fortunately many records and other resources are becoming more accessible to researchers. This meeting provides a great opportunity discuss how to develop a structure within Family History ACT find out more about British India research.

Two monthly meetings in the past year have concerned aspects of British Indian history. Society Patron Prof. Peter Stanley, who has a research interest in British India, is convening a meeting to encourage members to discuss their family history research, share stories, sources and problems, and discuss whether we can or should establish an informal discussion group which might meet to support members interested in this specialist area. The meeting will be held on Saturday, 4 June 10.30 to 12.30, in the Education Room, and refreshments will be provided. Please email Peter at p.stanley@adfa.edu.au if you are interested to come along (or to register your interest in being part of occasional meetings on this subject).
