Honour your Victorian ancestors by nominating them to have a feature named after them

Name a Place in Victoria

Do your ancestors hail from Victoria, Australia? Did they leave a lasting legacy in the State? If so, the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning wants to hear from you. This is a remarkable opportunity to honour our Victorian ancestors’ (and non-ancestors’) contributions by nominating them for recognition in the naming of a street, road, park, community facility, or one of 400 different types of geographical features.

It is also a chance to share our genealogical research and ensure that our ancestors, who were often unsung heroes within their communities, are remembered for generations to come.

To learn more about the program, follow the link to Name a Place in Victoria at:  https://engage.vic.gov.au/name-a-place

The process is quick and straightforward, especially if you’ve already written your ancestor’s story. Simply complete the online form an upload your document as part of the nomination (with perhaps a short summary added to the beginning so the assessors can quickly see why your nominee should be considered).

Nominations close on 31 January 2025.
