The Family History ACT 2024 E.M. Fletcher short story writing competition closes on 15 July.

The Family History ACT (FHACT) 2024 E.M. Fletcher Writing Competition is now open.  The competition is judged to select the best short story of 1,500 – 2,000 words on a family history / genealogy theme. Read extracts from previous winning entries here.

We are pleased to announce the same package of prizes as has been offered in recent years, including $1,000 cash for the winner of the E.M. Fletcher Award, sponsored by FHACT.  As a special bonus, FHACT members also have the chance to win $100 in cash.  In addition, the University of Tasmania (UTAS) is generously sponsoring the second prize of $500 cash.

Our panel of judges for this year’s competition includes Professor Emmett Stinson from UTAS, 2022 E.M. Fletcher Award winner Beverley Richardson, and experienced genealogist and FHACT member Therese Lynch.

All the information you need about the competition is on the FHACT website, where we’ve made it easy for you to access every detail about how to enter.  Download the poster here and share it with your friends and networks.

Remember, every family has a story, so start writing yours now.  The competition is open until 15 July 2024.
