2:00 pm Cathy Day: Benefits of TMG for academic research projects

In the early days of her PhD research, Cathy evaluated multiple genealogy programs to select the best one for academic research on cousin marriage, and determined that TMG had many unique features that made it ideal for this type of work. She will speak on what made TMG such an asset to her research and how TMG’s system of flags led to a breakthrough. Cathy will also discuss some of her findings on cousin marriage, illegitimacy and geographical mobility in 18^th and 19^th century Wiltshire. Finally, she will briefly touch on using TMG to study kinship systems in Papua New Guinea.
