If you have Anglo-Indians in your family tree, or several generations in India, chances are, at least one of them was connected with the railways. Sean has identified dozens in his family in British India.
Sean's presentation will cover how the Indian railway network was developed, and its historical context; the structure of railway companies, and main roles and career paths; conditions of service of railwaymen, and the unique railway communities that developed; and share his experience with sources for researching railway personnel.
