Come along with us to discover the beginning of this profession in the South Pacific and the States of Australia , which provided the opportunity for employment , trade and commerce exporting whale oils, whale bones, seal and whale meat and skins. Sydney became the busiest port in the South Pacific . Whaling became a major maritime industry, providing work for thousands of men and exporting products worth £4.2 million by 1850.
