Do you have a Whaler or Sealer in your family history? Whalers and Sealers were amongst the early traders of the Colony,
Come along with us to discover the beginning of this profession in the South Pacific and the States of Australia , which provided the opportunity for employment , trade and commerce exporting whale oils, whale bones, seal and whale meat and skins. Sydney became the busiest port in the South Pacific . Whaling became a major maritime industry, providing work for thousands of men and exporting products worth £4.2 million by 1850.
