India SIG Meeting (Information)
The India Special Interest Group meeting is a hybrid meeting for members with an interest in researching family history related to India. Members should purchase a ticket to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.
The topic for this meeting is:
The Next Generation of Macalisters in India
In the late 1700s, five Macalister brothers left Scotland to join the East India Company, rising from humble beginnings to achieve wealth in India. Inspired by their success, twelve nieces and nephews followed, with only two returning to Scotland. Family duty shaped the lives of the youngest original brothers—Keith, Mathew, and Norman—who supported nieces and nephews far from Scotland. Learn about their obligations and legacy, along with the importance of re-reading old documents.
Afterwards, there will be time for research discussion.
