Beryl Evans is a native of Ceredigion (Cardiganshire), Wales, and has been involved in various ways with family history for nearly 40 years. At present, she is Chairman of the Cardiganshire Family History Society and Treasurer of the Association of the Family History Societies of Wales. Tracing Your Welsh Ancestors was written by Beryl and published by Pen & Sword in 2015.
Having worked at the National Library of Wales since 1985, working in various posts relating to family history and public services, including the resident Genealogical Researcher for 14 years, she has gained a lot of experience and knowledge regarding Welsh family history. At present, she is the Research Services and Engagement Manager at the Library, which involves promoting research services, including family history, to perspective users within the Library and across the world.
Over the years, Beryl has contributed through interviews and research to many radio and television programmes relating to Welsh family history and regularly contributes articles for various family history journals and magazines. She also gives talks in person and via online platforms to a variety of societies from many countries, including America, Canada, and, of course, Australia, on many subjects related to tracing your Welsh ancestors.
Beryl will guide you through the many resources available at the National Library of Wales to trace your Welsh family history. Concentrating mainly on what is available online but also mentioning collections that aren't accessible online and how to gain information from these collections. Covering parish registers, census, probate, nonconformist records and much more. This will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions regarding tracing Welsh family history, as many subjects will only touch the surface.
