DNA Workshop (Information)

Date & Time
17 February 2024 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Timezone
(UTC+11:00) Australia/Sydney

The DNA SIG meeting is a hybrid meeting for members with an interest in DNA for their genealogy research. Members should register to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.

The topic for this meeting is:

"Working with Matches Workshop"

This workshop will introduce you to basic but essential methods for working with your match data. You will work on your own DNA results in the workshop, whether in the Cook Education Room or at home, following a structured guide. You must have results from Ancestry or MyHeritage. People in the Education Room will need to bring a laptop or ipad. We may be able to provide limited laptops. During the session you will attempt to verify your pedigree and perform a Leeds analysis, spending about 45 minutes on each with an afternoon tea break. Registrants will receive further information to prepare for the session, so register early. This workshop will suit people who have recently received their results, or may have only tried to recognise people on their match list. It will set you up to be able to answer real questions with your DNA results. This is a repeat of the Workshop on 20 January. People who struggled in that workshop are welcome to return.

If you are interested in this event you might also be interested in the many other benefits of membership. See Membership Benefits for member benefits, or go straight to Join or Renew to join.
