India SIG Meeting (Information)

Date & Time
6 April 2024 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
(UTC+11:00) Australia/Sydney

This is a hybrid meeting for members with an interest in researching family history related to India. Members should purchase a ticket to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.

The topic for this meeting is:

"Envoy to the South of India "

India SIG member Sean Kelly will share his experiences living and working as Australia's Consul-General for Southern India based in Chennai (formerly Madras) between December 2013 and January 2018.  Sean's area of responsibility covered all of the former Madras Presidency, as well as the territory of the Nizam of Hyderabad.  Part travelogue, part work highlights, and part points of genealogical interest, Sean's presentation will share some of his copious collection of photos of places of common interest, link them to British India history and his own family history, and recount some experiences searching for or stumbling across links to his family's past.

Either in room, or via Zoom, you are invited to share this presentation.

If you are interested in this event you might also be interested in the many other benefits of membership. See Membership Benefits for member benefits, or go straight to Join or Renew to join.
