The TMG Down Under meeting is a hybrid meeting for TMG Down Under members with an interest in using The Master Genealogist project manager and related software for family history research. Members should register to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.

The topic for this meeting is:

Alistair Henderson: Researching Scottish ancestry -- methodology, sites and caveats

This presentation will include a reminder of the basics of researching Scottish Family History, including how best to access the primary records – civil registration, parish records, census and legal records.

It will include tips on optimising searches, using cultural practices to aid searching, and reminders of the differences between Scottish and the other UK records.

It will also encompass a survey of all the major primary record classes, with how and where to access them.

The session will be interactive, demonstrating the records at the major ScotlandsPeople  website, and other repositories in Scotland available to users outside the country.

If you are interested in this event you might also be interested in the many other benefits of membership. See Membership Benefits for member benefits, or go straight to Join or Renew to join.
