India SIG Meeting (Information)
The India Special Interest Group meeting is a hybrid meeting for members with an interest in researching family history related to India. Members should purchase a ticket to attend this event by logging in and selecting the event with "(Register)" in the title.
The topic for this meeting is:
"Money, Missionaries, Madness and Murder: biographical sources for British women in India, 1860-1900. "
At this meeting our guest speaker is Dr Anne-Marie Schwirtlich: Researching the experiences of British women who were widowed in India between 1860 and 1900, Dr Anne-Marie Schwirtlich consulted a wide variety of contemporary sources in order to glean biographical information about 260 widows. Her presentation will introduce a few of these widows and some of the sources essential to her research.
