“Researching like a Professional Genealogist”
With Debra Carter
Research Team Manager at AncestryProGenealogists
With a formal education in genealogy and local history and an early career in international commercial shipping, her area of genealogy expertise is the research of Australian and associated migratory records. She researches the major subscription databases and social history, finding and adding depth, context and colour to family history stories.
She is a full member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA), the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Society of Australian Genealogists. I also have an ongoing one-name study with the Guild of One-Name Studies (Fleeson).
She enjoys family history tutoring, having built and delivered courses to adult learners in the UK and Australia. Being actively involved in the genealogy and heritage community and presenting talks on various genealogical subjects, she finds is very rewarding.
The talk will include the following:
- Where to start/ Framing Research Questions;
- Standard methodologies and approaches;
- Using Checklists and Research Logs;
- Tips and Tricks that the Pro’s use;
- When to seek assistance from a professional genealogist/researcher.
7:00 pm Join Debra Carter in the Education Room or via zoom to hear how to research like a Professional Genealogist ...
