FHACT Monthly Meeting (Register)
Due to the extended COVID lockdown in the ACT the FHACT Monthly Meeting is now a Zoom only meeting and is open to members of the public as well as FHACT members. The topic for this meeting is:
"How writing the biography of an Aboriginal warrior brought me to my own colonial family history"
Dr Naomi Parish from the University of Tasmania will be discussing her journey to find her family's colonial heritage by writing the biography of an Aboriginal warrior.
Dr Parry is a Lecturer in Humanities in the College of Arts, Law, and Education, and teaches in the Diploma of Family History. She specialises in social history, including the experiences of the stolen generations, forgotten Australians, and former child migrants. She has a passion for archives and also writes public and community history, including digital history, and is an Accredited Professional Historian and an editor. She is currently writing a book about the life of an Aboriginal warrior called Musquito and exploring the historiography of contact and conflict on the colonial frontier.
