Aims

The India Special Interest Group (SIG) shares information and skills to research family connections in India. This includes, military, cultural, relationship, employment and British associations.

Meeting Time

This SIG meets at 10:00 am  - 12:00pm Australia Eastern Time on the first Saturday of the even months of the year.

Meeting Place

We hold hybrid meetings – in person in the Family History ACT (FHACT) Education room at Cook, or digitally via Zoom.

Who May Attend?

For FHACT members it is free. New members are most welcome.

‘Charles Brown: an intriguing Bengal gunner’
Charles Brown was a gunner in the Bengal Artillery 1821-26. His complexion points to his being Anglo-Indian. After purchasing his discharge, he joined Thackers & Co in Calcutta as a ‘Roving Sub Editor’. He arranged exploring expeditions in association with the Asiatic Society and was proficient in several languages
